How to deal with stretch marks after pregnancy

Stretch marks. We all dislike them, and I think dislike is a kind word. Sometimes stretch marks are just our worst enemies and like enemies you need to understand them first in order to eliminate them.

What are stretch marks?

As the definition goes, stretch marks are streaks or stripes on the skin, especially on the abdomen, caused by distension of the skin from obesity or during pregnancy. They are usually caused by rapid weight gain in a short period of time, pregnancy or muscle enlargement. Stretch marks are tiny tears in the dermis (the elastic, resilient middle layer) that form when the skin stretches.

How can I get rid of stretch marks?

There are a lot of ways through which we can get rid of stretch marks, some seem easy and other are basically just cutting the skin off (it will all be explained down below), all depends on what stage the mark is.

The stages of stretch marks:

There are 3 stages. The first stage is when it appears as pink and maybe itchy for some. The skin around the stretch mark looks like it’s thin. In the second stage they get bigger and purple or reddish depending on how much the skin has actually stretched. The third and final stage they start to fade and get a white or silver tone

Will stretch marks ever go away?

The sooner you tackle them the easier it is to get back your old skin. Unfortunately if you are in the last stage, the chances are really small, mainly because stretch marks transformed into scars, unless you will perform a tummy tuck, basically getting one big scar to remove other little scars.

Is there any way I can say good bye to them?

Yes, there are plenty of ways and I will actually tell you about some of them, and not only I will enumerate but also I will tell you how to use these cures.

1.Castor Oil or Olive Oil

Used in the treatment of a number of skin problems such as wrinkles, age spots, moles, dark spots, fine lines and pimples, can also be used to get rid of our worst enemy. Just rub it on the problem area for 5 to 10 minutes, cover it with a thin piece of cotton and with a warm bottle apply warmth to the area for 30 minutes. Do this daily for at least one month.

The same principle applies for Aloe Vera and Cocoa Butter excluding the warmth part.

2. Get Tanned

While this method won’t make stretch marks disappear it can camouflage them with success. Just get out there and get some of that Vitamin D.

Believe it or not, water is basically magic, water is the key to life ;). Stay as hydrated as possible, water will rejuvenate your skin thus making the little lines go away by restoring the elasticity.

4. Laser

Laser surgery can actually help and make stretch mark fade away at a quicker pace with a little bit of pain, but you know that famous saying ‘No pain no gain’

The best way of getting rid of them is preventing them in the first place, massage your skin daily with moisturizers and keep your diet under control, there is no need for overeating.
